Apple is known for making devices future proof and setting the foundation of technology for years to come. iPad Pro 12.9 (2020) is one such device that aims to make your work life easy, as it becomes the perfect replacement to your laptops.

While the previous iPad’s were known for their speed and battery life, they couldn’t compete with the hight-tech laptops in a lot of functions, but now the story is altogether different. With the release of iPad Pro 2020, Apple has dedicated an entire software to the devices, the iPad OS.

While the previous speculations talked about one single software, iOS to run on both iPad and iPhone, Apple proved them wrong by giving iPad’s its own operating system.

Apple released the new iPad Pro 2020 on June 18th 2020 for Apple India customers, and the 12.9 Inch version costs Rs. 89,900, while the 11 Inch version is sold for Rs. 71,900. Apple’s Indian store also allowed customers to avail attractive EMI on eligible cards.

iPad Pro 12.9 (2020) Overall Review

The new iPad Pro 12.9 (2020) is quite similar to its predecessors, however, the main difference comes in the specifications and the new LiDAR sensor, which allows 3D scanning and projecting.

The accommodation of the new LiDAR has made the iPad’s camera much like the iPhone 12, and it has to be one of the biggest physical difference. The front is all screen, with bezels decreasing from its predecessor. It still supports the Apple Pencil and the Magic Keyboard.

The iPad Pro is also a bit heavy, but is now capable more than ever. With the addition of 10MP Ultra wide camera, the iPad is now very similar to iPhone 12 Pro Max. The camera is spectacular and provides sharp and vibrant photos just like the iPhone 12 Pro Max.

The LiDAR Scanner on the other hand is still in a development phase. While its ability is marvellous and it makes good 3D replications, the technology is still far from perfect, with many errors and blanks in the 3D scan.

Can the new iPad replace your laptop?

Well, its a bit tricky to navigate in this situation. While the iPad Pro 12.9 (2020) can be a good replacement, it can’t really carry all the tasks your laptop can do.

Gaming experience is great and speedy, but at the same time, it is still a battery which we’re comparing to a laptop. In addition, there are softwares which are currently only eligible to be run on a laptop and have not been developed for the iPadOS specifically.

Personally speaking, I would like the iPad to me more price efficient and compatibility . If I am to pay almost Rs. 90,000 for an iPad, why can’t I add an additional Rs. 3,000 and buy a MacBook Air (2020)?

The iPad, like I said before, needs more compatibility. Many of the applications you find on a Mac or Windows can’t run on the iPad, and even if they do, they’re not as smooth in usage as they should be. Due to the screen size, as compared to laptop, it is hard to find navigation and tools.

Overall the iPad is a good device, but it is far from becoming a perfect replacement to a laptop.
