The new Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris, recently appeared in latest Vogue cover magazine, landed with the massive controversy across the world .
According to the various fashion and media analysts the Vogue cover page two images of Kamala Harris had been on the peak of criticism.

According to the reports , people criticize about the skin tone of Kamala Harris as they think that the picture is whitewashed and claim that the skin colour of Kamala Harris has been changed or had been whitewashed.
Whitewashing in the fashion industry refers to the digital modifying or altering of the skin of a non-white person to make it appear “whiter”.
Though ,Dame Anna Wintour, Editor-in-Chief of the magazine, denied to the New York Post that the images were “whitewashed”.

Fashion and lifestyle magazines have been quite in limelight on whitewashing many a times like ::

A singer business woman Rihanna’s picture in an Armani dress and blonde wig on the cover of the British Vogue had been whitened in 2011.

Oscar nominated actor Gabourey Sidibe in 2016 cover of Elle.

Naomi Campbell accused celebrity magazine Hello of presenting a “completely whitewashed” version of London in 2018.
All these editors confirmed that there had not been absolutely no skin lighting.

According to my opinion, People obsession with fairness is an ironic paradox , given the country’s tropical climate and the high melanin index of its populace. Each and Everyone should be
supercilious about their colourism as it defines the personality of the person. The trend of whitewashing should be demolished. Vogue should not mess out with the native color of Kamala Harris. She , as a Vice President is inspirational personality for future generation and should not be recognized as a whitewashed color personality.

It cannot be denied that colourism has a negative effect on all genders. However, women often feel more compelled to aspire to a fairer skin tone as they generally feel more pressurised to meet unrealistic societal standards of beauty in order to secure prized catches in the matrimonial market.

If on the other side we talk about the attire of Kamala Harris in which she is seen wearing Converse sneakers and a black Donald Deal jacket, and standing in front of a pink-and-green drape. In the other, she is in a powder blue Michael Kors suit, standing in front of a gold background with her arms crossed , this has also been a matter of enormous controversy because the public had a perception to see the Vice President in the formal wear only which according to me is not any issue of creating a controversial issue .
Moreover, Vogue says the less official-looking pictures speak to her “authentic, approachable nature, which we feel is one of the hallmarks of the Biden-Harris administration”.
The tabloid New York Post claimed both covers were selected by Harris and her team, and that Harris personally picked the green-and-pink background as they were the colours of her college sorority.

The countrymen of US should avoid now getting this more popular and they should work positively towards for their country which is currently grappling with the movement of cultural reckoning around gender race and power.
